MLMT: Futures Semi Contact Competition

The Futures Semi-Contact Competition is the starting point of the Major League Muay Thai pathway. Built on a proprietary matching system, it ensures athletes are paired fairly by skill and experience, creating a safe and structured environment for competition.

At this stage, the focus is on learning, development, and confidence building. Bouts are light contact with no knockouts, giving new athletes the chance to experience competition under real conditions while maintaining safety. The goal is not to “win at all costs,” but to help athletes understand rules, perform in front of referees, and stay composed under pressure.

The Futures Tournament is also a learning ground for coaches and trainers. Their role here is not to coach for victory, but to guide athletes through scenarios, highlight areas of improvement, and use each bout as a chance to refine their own coaching skills.

By starting in the Futures Tournament, athletes take their first real step into the sport. They gain experience, build composure, and prepare for the next level in the MLMT pathway — all while developing the control, discipline, and technique that define true Muay Thai.
